A big banner featuring Cristiano Ronaldo has been torn off at Old Trafford today as Manchester United may have begun ‘disciplinary’ action against the forward.
Some staff were spotted at the Premier League club home today, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, removing the large poster with images of the player, Naija News understands.
This is coming hours after the Portugal national team captain granted an exclusive interview to British broadcaster and Television personality, Piers Morgan.
Recall that during the explosive interview, Ronaldo disclosed his bitterness with activities at Old Trafford since he returned to the club.
The 37-year-old had unapologetically told Morgan that the Glazer family didn’t care so much about sporting success, and admitted he had no self-respect for manager Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo claimed during the interview on Monday that Old Trafford had not improved on facilities since his exit in 2008.
Reacting to the interview in a statement, the club said, “Manchester United note the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established. Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.”
Hours after releasing the statement, workers were now seen removing Ronaldo’s poster at the club. Naija News understands that Ronaldo was featured in an Adidas poster to advertise the new home kit, but workers were seen ripping that from the stadium walls on Wednesday afternoon.
Apparently, the club have started taking action against the 37-year-old player who is currently in Lisbon in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
