MAPOLY Students Attack Ogun Deputy Governor’s Convoy During Protest
Protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, attacked the convoy of Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele on Wednesday.
The incident occurred while Salako-Oyedele was en route to the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, representing Governor Dapo Abiodun at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations.
Reports indicate that the students damaged some security vehicles and injured several security operatives who attempted to control the situation.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, confirmed the attack in a statement.

“Irate students armed with sticks and other dangerous projectiles attacked the deputy governor’s convoy despite all efforts by security operatives to placate them. Upon realizing it was the deputy governor, they became more aggressive, attempting to demobilize her convoy despite police efforts to calm them,” Akinmade stated.
He added that the deputy governor was forced to reroute to her lodge, allowing the protesting students to pass peacefully before proceeding to her scheduled event.
Akinmade further noted that the students had blocked the road, disrupting vehicular movement.
