AS the 2nd National Para Games came to an end in Abuja yesterday, Osun State Athletes can boast of an excellent performance at the game after winning five Gold Medals, five Silver Medals and eight Bronze Medals, totaling 18 Medals overall.
Team Osun graced the games with just 30 athletes who participated in five games of Para Power Lifting, Para Swimming, Para Athletics, Para Canoeing and Para Table Tennis.
In Para Power Lifting, the Team won one Gold Medal, two Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals, totaling five Medals.
Muftau Rasaq was the gold medalist in the Para Power Lifting 65kg category, Anuoluwapo Akoleaje and Anifat Ganiyu won Silver Medals in 86 + kg and 41kg category respectively while Alao Bukola and Opeyemi Adefila coasted home Bronze Medals in their categories.
In Para Athletics, the team claimed three medals as Amaka Anum won Gold in shot put F40 category, Victor Saviour won Silver Medal in shot put F47 category and Bassey Better claimed Bronze in athletics 100M T37 category.
In the Para Swimming game, Friday Urounah was the star of the show for team Osun as he coasted home two Gold Medals in 50 and 100M freestyle S10 male category while Olasunkanmi Mariam won one silver and two Bronze Medals totaling five Medals in Para Swimming.
In Para Canoeing, Sunday Akpodufaye won one gold and one silver while Alaba Metelewawon won Bronze medal to make it three medals for team Osun in Para Canoeing.
In Para Table Tennis, Osun athletes won two Bronze Medals. Sofiyat Yusuf and Taiwo Mujeeb were the Bronze medalists.
