Meet Nigerian Female Pharmacist Who Developed Anti-Malaria Drug

Dr. Hadiza Nuhu of the ABU’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences invented the anti-malaria herb that she named HERB 25, and the product has since gained recognition in Nigeria and other African countries as an effective malaria drug.

While presenting the awardees to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Garba, the Registrar, Dr. Isah Mohammed Abbas, said the awards were designed to appreciate hard-working and creative staff of the university.

“We feel that this is also a way of encouraging other staff to work hard and engage in creative ventures for the progress of the university,” Abbas said.

Speaking, the VC announced the donation of computers to the eight awardees.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, Dr. Nuhu urged the management of the university to continue to support academic researches.

She said “ABU is blessed with talents. These individuals only need support. If they get the necessary support, ABU, Nigeria and even Africa would be proud of what they would come up with.”
