Again, Mild Drama As Man Who Injected Late Senator Adeleke With Banned Substances Fails To Show Up

A mild drama again occurred today at the sitting of the coroner’s inquest set up by the state government to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke as the quack nurse, Mr. Alfred Aderibigbe who allegedly injected the late senator with some banned substances failed to show up in court. The police had revealed yesterday that he was placed on administrative bail.

However, his lawyer wrote to the court asking that the coroner should step down sitting till 11.40 am, as he was presently appearing before another court. The coroner granted the lawyer’s request and subsequently adjourned till 12noon.

Recall when Aderibigbe appeared to testify yesterday, his lawyer asked for another adjournment as was not psychologically fit to testify. The coroner calmed the witness who was fighting hard to hold back tears, telling him it wasn’t a criminal proceeding, but an inquest to unravel the cause of the death of Sen. Adeleke.

Yesterday, the pathologist at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, LAUTECHTH, revealed aspiration as the cause of death, stating that no trace of poison or other dangerous metals was found in the toxicology report of the deceased.

Sen. Adeleke Was Hale and Hearty When He Left Iwo – Engr. Olaniyi

A member of the Senator Isiaka Adeleke Support Group, Engr. Olasunkanmi Olaniyi has revealed that the deceased was hale and hearty when he left is party in Iwo, late Saturday night on April, 22^nd, 2017.

Engr. Olaniyi revealed this at the Coroner’s sitting in Osogbo Thursday morning, when he took the stand to testify about what he knows on the death of Senator Adeleke.

Recall Senator Adeleke had died Sunday morning on 23^rd April, 2017 to the surprise of many who saw him at several functions the previous day.

Testifying on the event of that day, Engr. Olaniyi revealed that the late Sen. Adeleke arrived his daughter’s wedding around 7pm whilst other invitees were almost living the hall.

“He came with an entourage of 30 people, and because food was no longer available, I was only able to serve them meat.

He continued, “I didn’t serve Sen. Adeleke separately, I just placed the bowl of meat on the table placed in front of them, and from all I saw, Sen. Adeleke did not eat out of it. I guess because the meat was inadequate, he simply asked his followers to help themselves.”

The engineer who described himself as a loyalist, claimed the Senator has been his leader since 1991, even before the creation of the state of Osun.

The politician further revealed that during the course of his stay at his party, the senator ordered for his personal drink to be served him.

“One of his aide brought the senator’s bottle of alcoholic drink and his own glass cup, which he drank from. The drink was Remy Martins,” the engineer revealed.

He further stated that the late senator gave him a postdated cheque of N100,000, which he presented to the coroner.

Before leaving the party, Engr Olaniyi revealed that the senator beckoned on him and his family to take a group picture and then departed shortly after 8pm.

“He looked hale and hearty when he left my party and I was shocked to my marrows the next morning when I heard of his demise. In fact, we weren’t allowed into Ede. When we approached the town, we heard miscreants screaming “Iwo lo pa”, that is Iwo killed him. (Iwo is the town Engr Olaniyi hails from).”

Asked if he thinks he was poisoned, the Sen. Adeleke’s protégé said he wouldn’t know since he wasn’t with him when he died.
