Ministerial Screening: Why The Gesture Of “Take A Bow & Go” Should Be Extended To Hon Rauf Aregbesola By Adeboye Adebayo

The Nigeria’s federal executive council is no doubt the highest decision making body of our dear nation. The council, when put in place is expected to put an end to all the challenges of poor economy, high level and different phases of insecurities and deep poverty scourge among other negative index driving our country men & women crazy through its critical thinking, research, strategies, projects, policies, programmes and its implementations.

In my article titled _*“FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL & NIGERIA’S DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION: WHY MUHAMMAD BUHARI NEEDS RAUF AREGBESOLA IN HIS NEXT LEVEL TEAM BY ADEBOYE ADEBAYO”*_ published about ten days ago precisely on the 15th July, 2019….

I reeled out in it, the basic practical requirements that will be needed for anyone to practically qualified to be a member of the Federal executive council; FEC going by the current socio-economic challenges starring us in the face as a nation and I made it clear in the article that our own Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola; Rauf that we know, Rauf that we trust possesses all these practical qualities and he is ready to serve the nation and to the glory of almighty God, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola has been nominated by the President & Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Muhammadu Buhari to be a member of the highest decision making body of our country.

As it is entrenched in our constitution, the Nigeria’s upper legislative house; the Senate yesterday started the screening of the Ministerial nominees of Mr. President and its usual manner, the senate as presided over by the very distinguished Senator Ahmed Lawan is honouring all former lawmakers and members of the various legislative houses to take a bow and go with no rigorous debate or drilling session.

Many Nigerians misconstrue this “take-a-bow & go” gesture as an avenue for many of the nominees to dodge or to protect them from some competent questions & competency tests but the truth of the matter is that the senate is avoiding unnecessary debate and questioning because before anyone can become a legislator at the federal assemblies, state assemblies or honourary member of any legislative assemblies, he or she must have proven his or her mettle as worthy, patriotic, honourable, distinguished, committed and patriotic member of our society, he or she must have contributed immensely to the growth and development of our nation in practical terms, which means he or she must have passed some high level integrity tests, hence taking a bow and go at the Senate screening is not only a worthy gesture but a due recognition of practical contributions of those in that class to the development and growth of the societies in all facets of life and the sectors of Nigeria’s economy.

Hon. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola indeed again falls in to the class of those that have practically, worthily, patriotically, honourably, specially, and uniquely as a leader & member of our society, contributed immensely to the growth and development of our nation which means like other conventional lawmakers, he had long ago passed some high level integrity tests, hence I humbly suggested he should be allow to take a bow & go.

Politically, as published recently by Hon. Oguntola Toogun; a former commissioner under Aregbesola’s administration as former governor in the state of Osun, Hon. Rauf Aregbesola has been a major record breaker and he enjoys so many firsts; Rauf Aregbesola is
the first Governor to get to power via the longest protracted legal battle, he is the first Governor to use complete eight years in office(the longest serving Governor in Osun), he is the first Governor to handover power to his choice as successor, he is the first Governor to become a Minister-designate and by his grace he will be confirmed as a member of the Federal executive council.

Economically, Hon. Rauf Aregbesola is the first governor to employ 20,000 youths under the Osun Youths Empowerment Programmes; OYES scheme within his 100 days as governor; a scheme which has now become a national and International template for youth empowerments and job creations.

Hon. Rauf Aregbesola’s initiative of Tablet of knowledge aka Opon Imo won International award as a veritable tool for educational development.

Hon. Rauf Aregbesola’s environmental policies where his government executed projects of many rivers courses’ dredging which saved the people of the State of Osun from imminent disaster of flooding even when experiencing high volume of rainfalls.

Hon. Rauf Aregbesola’s O’meal programmes among very many other unique programmes gives balanced diet food & fruits in one square meal a day to the pupils of elementary school throughout the state of Osun whereby there mental alertness are aided, thousands of direct and indirect sustainable jobs were created and the programme also won an International recognition at the United Kingdom House of Commons apart from becoming a national model and template adopted and being implemented by the federal government today.

On the 24th May, 2017 during a week long celebration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s 60th birthday, #Ogbeni@60, the then Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Dr. Folasayo Salam said during a special plenary session of the noble house to celebrate his 60th yearly birthday and also to induct him permanently as a honorary life member of the State House of Assembly, in these various quotes as follows;

“Of course, the naysayers are struggling to pick holes in the record of performance of Hon. Rauf Aregbesola, but no one could up till date”

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has a record of working within the ambit of the law and has by his conduct and actions projected this assembly as very significant”

“The governor has worked well with this parliament under my watch; he shows maturity when it is very crucial”

“His exceptional performances must attract reward and if we intend to encourage people to continue doing things exceptionally, the induction of Hon. Rauf Aregbesola today is well deserved”

“Now, the question: If you agree with me that Hon. Aregbesola has done very exceptionally well on his mandate-say aye, against say nay? Ayes have it”

“Today Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola will shed the toga of a stranger in this chamber for we have resolved unanimously that he merits to be addressed as Hon. Rauf Ogbeni”

“That Hon. Aregbesola be admitted into our fold as honorary member, OSHA say aye! Against nay? Ayes have it”

“That the honorary seat be allocated to Hon. Aregbesola, the governor, State of Osun say aye! Against nay? Ayes have it”

And there and then, Hon. Rauf Aregbesola, the life Honourable member, moves his first motion for the probe of alleged coup on his seat at the hallowed chamber of the State of Osun House of Assembly.

It is crystal clear that Ogbeni Hon. Rauf Aregbesola who has proven his mettle as a worthy, patriotic, honourable, distinguished, committed and patriotic member of our society, who had contributed immensely to the growth and development of our nation in practical terms, which means he had passed some high level integrity tests and as a life member of the state of Osun House of Assembly, I once again humbly suggested with all sense of responsibilities, humility and patriotism that he should be allowed to take a bow and go at the Senate screening.

Thank you all.
