Mirabel Not Arrested – Ogun Police Give Update On Viral Rape Case
Contrary to speculations making the rounds on social media, the Ogun State Police Command has said a Nigerian TikToker, known simply as Mirabel, is not in custody.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the content creator, with the username @mirab351, recently alleged in a viral and emotional video that she was sexually assaulted by a yet-to-be-identified man.
The incident, which she claimed happened on Sunday, February 15, sparked heated conversations across various social media platforms under the hashtag #StopRapingWomen.
However, reports currently circulating on social media purported that the allegation was found to be untrue.
Some social media users also alleged that Mirabel was arrested by the police for misleading the general public.
However, when contacted by DAILY POST on Thursday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the investigation is still ongoing.
“The case is still under investigation, and in due time, we will get to know whether it is true or false but for now, we are still investigating,” Babaseyi said.
Asked if Mirabel is in custody, the PPRO said, “We did not arrest her, so she is not in custody. When there is an arrest, we will make it public.”

Mirabel, an Ogun State resident, attempted suicide after she was reportedly raped by a stranger who broke into her apartment and later sent messages telling her “my father has the money to bury the case before it gets to court”.
The victim broke down after she shared her ordeal in a viral video on Monday.
In a video that went viral on social media platforms, including X, Mirabel narrated how she was raped by a stranger who broke into her apartment on Sunday.
“I got raped yesterday in my apartment, February 15, in the morning. I have insomnia; if I’m not drunk or high, I can’t sleep. So, the Saturday, I drank, and it wasn’t working. I needed to be high enough so I could sleep. My eyes were tired, but I couldn’t sleep. I slept around 6 am,” she says in the video.
“Around 9 am, I heard knocking on my door. I thought maybe it was one of my neighbours, because it was Sunday morning and most of them must have gone to church. Maybe one of them wanted to ask for something. I stood up. I was having a headache, and I was still drunk.
“Immediately I opened the door, I got pushed back. Before I get to my door, there is my fridge, and a few steps forward, there is my door. I hit my head on the door because I got pushed back. I hit my head on the fridge, and I passed out.
“On opening my eyes, there is a man over me, there is cloth stuffed in my mouth, and tied. I was just there, mumbling, maybe somebody could hear me. But it was Sunday. Most people would have gone to church. Most of them go to church. They might have been the ones to faintly hear me mumbling.
“When I felt like it had been over 20 minutes, I was just shaking and mumbling, because there was nothing I could do. I didn’t even know this person to begin with. I just stayed there. Then later on, he left, and I was bleeding. I didn’t know why I was bleeding. I thought I got my period.
“But today, the person texted me, it turned out this person inserted a fist blade inside my vagina and cut me until I could bleed. He said he was trying to stimulate himself, him being the first person I could sleep with. He sent me a text. I don’t want to put it out, but I’ll post it after this video.
“I’m so sorry. I can’t keep up with everything. I don’t even know how to react. I went to my friend’s place. I left home, and I told my friend to come pick me. I’m not very okay. Everything is happening to me, and I’ve been suicidal from the start. I can’t keep up anymore. I can’t hold it anymore,” she narrated.
Mirabel shared screenshots of messages sent by the attacker, identified as Priston, in which he claimed to have known her previously.
In the texts, he accuses Mirabel of ignoring his advances.
Part of his text reads, “I’m sure you don’t know me because you decided to close your eyes. Even after waking up from passing out, I want to tell you that even if you remember me or my face because we have met twice, and you kept ignoring me.
“The second time, I had to pay boys to stop empty bikes from entering that side so you would wait and talk to me. But you kept distancing yourself. You complimented the way I speak, and you said I smell nice, but you still refuse to give me your number, and you are so good-looking,” he said.
He also claimed that his family had the financial means to prevent the case from reaching court.
“I know you are smart, and you will definitely figure out who I am. But let me tell you, my father has the money to bury the case right before it gets to court, so don’t bother. Besides, you can’t find me, and you don’t even have the money to, considering your situation. You are eating from hand to mouth, and you are living on the edge of life. Keep the little money to feed,” the text reads.
