The missing Part II student of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mubarak Olaniran, who was declared missing on Thursday, has been found.

Osun Defender had earlier reported that Mubarak was abducted around 3 p.m. on Wednesday near the Lagere area of Ile-Ife while traveling to his parents’ residence in Olode.

In a new development, Osun Defender gathered that Mubarak was been found in Osu town of the state on Saturday.

Narrating his ordeal while speaking with the medium, he explained that he was abducted after giving two individuals a ride on his motorcycle.

According to him, the two individuals flagged him down for assistance while he was en-route Ile-Ife to Olode.

Mubarak added that he was attacked when one of them asked him to stop so they could buy something.

He said, “I encountered both of them on my way to my parents’ place in Olode after leaving campus. They sought my assistance, and I decided to give them a lift since their destination was within Ife.

“On the way, one of them asked me to stop for him to buy something. I waited, and then the first guy tapped me from behind. I don’t remember what happened after that until I woke up around 9 p.m. in an unknown location. They had taken my phone, bike, and a sum of ₦400,000.”

Mubarak added, “I was later released and had to run for my life. The people I met on the way avoided me until someone in Osu eventually helped me. I am so grateful they didn’t take my life because I was terrified.”

While speaking with Osun Defender, the victim’s brother who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed his frustration over the lack of police support during the search for Mubarak.

He alleged that the police did not provide any personnel to assist in the search.  He, however, hinted that plans are underway to track Mubarak’s phone to identify and apprehend the culprits.

Spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Opalola Yemisi, had on Friday told Osun Defender that she had not briefed about the incident as at the time news of Mubarak’s missing filtered.
