Mob Sets Car Ablaze For Killing Teacher In Osun
A Toyota Corolla car was reportedly set ablaze by a mob following its involvement in an accident that killed a public school teacher, identified as Okunola K.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state.
The vehicle was said to have hit the said teacher of St. Michael Grammar School, Obada, Ode-Omu along Gbongan-Osogbo road leading to the victim’s death on the spot.
The deceased teacher according to an eye witness, Laolu Adeola, after closing from school purchased cassava peel and was waiting to board a motorcycle to his Oogi home when the incident happened.
The incident was confirmed by the Divisional Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Adigun Daniel.
Daniel disclosed further that the car’s driver eloped from the scene as the mob appeared uncontrollable.
“Efforts to bring the situation under control were futile as it was at the market square. The mob, before anyone could move the vehicle, set it ablaze and it was burnt beyond recognition.
“The vehicle driver lost control of the car and veered off the road towards the motorcycle which was about to carry the victim. The motorcyclist escaped by jumping off the motorcycle.
“The mob set the vehicle on fire immediately after the victim was confirmed dead at the scene of the incident”, he added.
