Mob Storms Amotekun Office In Osun, Injure Officers, Weapons Missing

Suspected hoodlums on Monday night reportedly launched an attack on the Egbedore Local Government Command of the Osun State Security Network Agency (also known as Amotekun in Awo, headquarters of the local government injuring personnel and allegedly carting away firearms.
The disturbance was said to have started around 8:00 p.m. when a man, who had been pursued by a group of assailants, ran into the Amotekun facility for safety.
It was gathered that the victim had earlier encountered one of the attackers over a lingering dispute believed to be connected to a football-related clash from the previous day.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the suspect later returned with reinforcements armed with machetes and other weapons, advancing toward the security office in large numbers.
Although officers initially intervened to shield the victim, the situation quickly escalated as the group reportedly forced their way into the premises.
In the process, parts of the facility were damaged, operational equipment was destroyed and some officers sustained injuries while trying to curtail the attack.
The invaders were also alleged to have seized firearms before retreating from the scene.
Calm was eventually restored after Amotekun operatives repelled the attackers.
Security sources confirmed that five suspects were apprehended in connection with the incident and subsequently handed over to the police in Awo for further investigation.
