Modakeke Mourns Monarch

The late Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba (Dr) Francis Olatunji Adedoyin Olaogbun  has been described as a huge loss to humanity.

The chairman of Ife East Area Council Comrade Abiodun Olomola while speaking with Osun Defender in Modakeke on Tuesday, described the late monarch as a lover of peace and a bridge builder.

He stated further that the late Ogunsua is a patriot and loyalist who had contributed to the development of Modakeke town in the face of multitude of challenges.

Also a business mogul and an indigene of the town, Chief Ayo Olanrewaju described the demise of Oba Dr Francis Adedoyin whom he said is a repository of history as a colossal loss.

Chief Olanrewaju said that Oba Adedoyin is a loyalist and a patriot to the course of Modakeke town, as well as a peaceful personality who championed the development of the town.

It was observed that all shops, markets and public institutions in the town were shut down to mourn the demise of the monarch who was said to have joined his ancestor some days ago.

Olomola said that a day holiday was declared by the council to mourn the passage of the monarch.

It was also gathered that economic activities was at its low ebb in Urban Day Area as both park and market in the area did not close down like that of better life market in Oke D.O, Boosa market and Apaina market in the town.

Also, few motorcyclists were seen plying the roads, while economic activities in Iraye, where there are large numbers of Hausa traders was not open for commercial activities.

Mallam Ishayaku Mohammed, a cocoa trader in Iraye described late Ogunsua as lover of all tribes which informed various ethnic groups such as Igbo, Hausas, Igbira, Nupes settlement within and outside the community.

He therefore prayed for the repose of the soul of the late monarch.

Meanwhile, the Eesa of Modakeke will be handling matters pertaining to the traditional affairs of the town pending the time the burial and installation of the new Ogunsua of Modakeke will be announced, it was gathered.
