Mohbad: Sam Larry, Naira Marley To Spend 21 Days In Detention
A magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos, on Wednesday, remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry in police custody.
The pair are persons of interest in the death of fast-rising singer Mohbad.
Mohbad passed away on September 12. He was laid to rest the following day.
The Lagos police on Tuesday announced it now has Naira Marley in its custody for interrogation.
Sam Larry was also detained on September 29.
During court sitting, the Lagos police requested that Naira Marley and Sam Larry be remanded for 30 days pending the completion of their investigation.
But in her judgment, Adeola Olatunbosun, the chief magistrate, held that the suspects be remanded for only 21 days.
The court ruling came at about the same time when the police declared Primeboy, a friend of Mohbad, wanted.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, said Primeboy failed to comply with the invitation regarding the investigation into Mohbad’s death.
The police also offered a reward of N1 million to anyone with useful information that would lead to his arrest.
Thousands of Nigerians have demanded justice for Mohbad in nationwide protests.
Idowu Owohunwa, the state commissioner of police, vowed that the command will use all its powers to fish out everyone indicted in the case.
On September 21, the police exhumed Mohbad’s corpse for autopsy and are awaiting the results.
