THE Olomu of Omu Owode-Ijesa in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, Prince Adejumo Operinmade, has been suspended for allegedly sponsoring attack on some government officials.

Oba Operinmade was alleged to have mobilised some hoodlums to attack some officials of Obokun local government council and High Chief Elegbewa on October 30, 2023, at Elegbewa Estate Mini Hall in Koka Ijesa community.

In the letter of suspension signed by the Alase of Ilase-Ijesa, Oba Isiaka Ajarabiolu, dated October 31, Operinmade was suspended until an investigation on the matter is concluded.

The letter read which was sighted by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday partly reads: “Following the incident that occurred on Monday, 30th October, 2023 at the Elegbewa Estate Mini Hall in Koka-ljesa, where some top officials of Obokun local government area and High Chief Elegbewa faced an attack and harassment by a group of individuals believed to be sponsored by Prince Adejumo Amos Operinmade (The Olomun of Omun of llase jesa).

“In response to this unfortunate incident, the Ilase Oba-In- Council expressed their strong disapproval and formally distanced itself from the events and such unbecoming conduct, especially by an Oba in llase ljesa land.

“As a result, the Oba-In-Council of llase ljesha Kingdom has taken decision to temporarily suspend Prince Adejumo Amos Operinmade from his chieftaincy position as Olomun of Omun llase ljessa pending the outcome of a thorough investigation into the matter, as from this period you should not parade yourself as Olomun/Loja or any llase ljesa Chief.

“This correspondence hereby serves as a medium to inform you of the Oba in Council decision, Thanks.”

However, Oba Operinmade denied sponsoring thugs to unleash violence on some people in the council area.

Oba Adejumo said he remains the traditional ruler of Omu Owode, adding that nobody in the area can ask him to step aside, since he ascended the throne through due process.

He added that there was no record of violence in Koka community on the aforementioned date, accusing Alase of trying to smear his reputation due to his popularity.
