Months After Beating Soldier, Thugs Attack Amotekun Personnel, Stab One In Iree
Some suspected hoodlums on Thursday in Iree, headquarters of Boripe North Local Council Development area of Osun State, attacked operatives of Osun Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad in Iree.
Osun Defender gathered that the operatives were on their way to honour an invitation to a program at the campus of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree when the thugs waylaid them.
The hoodlums, according to the Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd) were led by one Seun Mukaila and another one notoriously called Gbedu.
This was coming months after the same hoodlums beat a soldier to stupor at Poly Junction area of the community.
It was gathered that the Registrar of the Polytechnic had invited the personnel to join in the ongoing Anti-Cultism Crusade on the campus.
Speaking to Journalists in Osogbo after the incident, Adewinmbi said his men were attacked by the hoodlums who prevented them from accessing the venue of the programme.
He said, “On their way to the institution campus after the school gate, they met two teams of thugs and cultists led by one Seun Mukaila and another popularly called Gbedu.
“The thugs charged at the operatives who tried as much as possible to calm. Our operatives came down from their vehicle to address them and let them know they were there on invitation.
“However, the leaders of the thugs attacked our personnel and tried to disarm the operatives. In the course of struggling with the thugs, one of our operatives was stabbed with a knife and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
“He added that the matter has been reported to the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit.
