Motorcyclist Abducts, Rapes 13-Year-Old Girl In Ile-Ife

A 30-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Gboye Adebowale has been accused of abducting and raping his neighbour’s girl child.
Adebowale, popularly called Boye allegedly raped the girl in her parents’ apartment on July 24, 2020, at Ogbon-Agbara Street, Ile-Ife.
The suspect, according to findings by OSUN DEFENDER, moved into the same compound with his victim’s parents about three months ago.
Adebowale allegedly lured the victim away from her parents’ place of residence to where he eventually had carnal knowledge of her.
The case, which was brought to the attention of Citizen Lola Wey, the Executive Director of Eco Center for Transformation and Empowerment Initiative, was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested and charged to court on Tuesday.
Adebowale was arraigned before an Ile-Ife magistrate’s court.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Abdullahi, said the alleged offences contravened Sections 218 and 225 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
But the suspect pleaded not guilty to the two counts of rape and abduction.
Defence counsel, Mr. E. F. Adeojo, urged the court to admit the suspect to bail and stated the readiness of the defendant to provide reliable sureties.
The presiding magistrate, A. A. Ayeni, remanded the suspect in the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ile-Ife.
He, however, adjourned the matter till August 13, 2020 for the consideration of the bail application.
