Motorcyclists Kill Police Inspector On Way To Church In Delta

A 45-year-old police inspector, Festus Onori has been reportedly mobbed to death by suspected commercial motorcyclists in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Council of Delta State.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the officer attached to Marine Police Station (Cable Point Asaba), was killed before his wife and three children who were with him, at the time of the incident.

According to the deceased’s elder brother, Austin Onori, Inspector Onori was on his way to church with his family when a commercial motorcyclist said to be of northern extraction hit his vehicle at the rear in Okpanam, near Asaba, the state capital.

He said his deceased brother was about to park properly to find out what really happened but to his surprise over 20 commercial motorcyclists attacked him with sticks and other dangerous weapons.

According to the elder brother, the deceased made a U-turn and ran back to his car.

“And as he drove off fearing for his life, the Okada riders pursued him. When he got to Marble hill Okpanam, he diverted through that road to the express thinking that his chasers would be discouraged and retreat.

“Behold, they pursued him down to Ogwashi-Uku Community near Kwale, when the fuel in his vehicle got exhausted on the Ogwashi Uku Community Kwale expressway.

“At that time, his pursuers numbered over 50. Then, they mobbed him to death in the presence of his wife and three children.

“They also destroyed his vehicle. It was a passerby, according to the wife, who took him to Ogwashi-Uku police station before he was confirmed dead. As I speak, his remains have been deposited in the morgue, ” he said.

Reacting, the spokesperson for the command, Bright Edafe, said he was yet to get an official report about the matter.
