Mr. Macaroni Slams Lagos Comm. Toke Benson Over Viral Assault Video

Popular comedian and activist Mr. Macaroni has reacted to the viral video of Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Toke Benson, allegedly assaulting a man who was recording her.

The video, which has sparked nationwide outrage, shows the commissioner attempting to seize the citizen’s phone in a heated confrontation.

Taking to his social media platforms, Mr. Macaroni, known for his advocacy on social justice and accountability, condemned the commissioner’s actions as a blatant abuse of power.

In his post, he wrote, “Dear Mrs. Toke Benson, who do you think you are that you can’t be recorded?? Ok. Commissioner? And so what?? You even have the temerity to ask ‘who is paying your salary?’ Is it your money? A public servant moving like a dictator. Saying you will break a citizen’s phone and actually moving to do so?? Outrageous!!!”

He also addressed another voice in the video, calling out the apparent arrogance of public officials.

“And I heard another lady asking, ‘Do you know who you are talking to?’ Who are you? Who is she? Who are all of you gangan??? My goodness!!!

He further mentioned in another tweet, “The only reason A public servant can assault a Nigerian and go Scot free is because Politicians in Nigeria are above the law.

“This is not the first time something like this would happen. However, if a citizen were to assault a politician, he or she would be in jail right now or could have been kidnapped by security agents or even shot dead…”

The comedian’s reaction has resonated with many Nigerians, sparking discussions about abuse of power and the rights of citizens to hold public officials accountable.

While criticism of Commissioner Benson continues to grow, neither she nor the Lagos State Government has issued an official statement addressing the allegations.
