AN Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre built at Ilobu, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government area of the State of Osun has been under lock and key years after its completion, findings have revealed.
The multimillion naira ICT project which was located at A.D.S Grammar School, Ilobu was reported to have been facilitated by the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yusuf and it has been left untouched since he left office in 2019.
OSUN DEFENDER visited the site of the ICT Centre on Wednesday and noted that the building has been overgrown with weeds and nobody was found at the premises.
The building, according to reports gathered by OSUN DEFENDER, is fully equipped with computers of high performance which can be used for JAMB and other external exams.
A staff of the A.D.S Grammar School who spoke with OSUN DEFENDER under the condition of anonymity, said the ICT has been in place since he came to the school in 2019, but has not been put to use till now.
He claimed that he didn’t know whether the ICT centre is built for the school or for the use of the entire community, saying that there have never been an official communication to the school regarding the project.
The President of Ilobu Development Union, Mr. Femi Salako, when contacted, said there was an ongoing process to revive the project, saying stakeholders have approached Hon. Lasun Yussuff who also expressed disappointment over the condition of the project.
He said: “When we noticed as concerned citizens, we approached Hon Lasun Yusuf who facilitated the project; he also expressed his disappointment and promised to step in and do all it takes to ensure the centre is put to beneficial use of the community, including spending his own resources to upgrade it if need be.”
