Reports have revealed that multiple earthquakes hit California today. There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, according to local news.
One earthquake hit with a 3.8-magnitude causing small tremors, according to the US Geological Survey. Two other earthquakes registered at a 2.8-magnitude and 3.0-magnitude along the coast in Eureka and in between Sacramento and San Jose in California.
California was struck by a magnitude 3.8 earthquake on Wednesday afternoon, with many reporting the tremors miles away. The magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit the Thousand Palms area, according to the U.S Geological Survey (USGS). The epicentre struck in the Coachella Valley of Riverside County at around 12.22pm local time on Wednesday (8.22pm BST), 8.1 miles north north-east of Thousand Palms. The quake was followed by a magnitude 1.2 aftershock just minutes later.
Other earthquakes to hit the area of California on Wednesday were a magnitude 3 tremor which hit 2km east south-east of Pacheco, California at 4.57pm local time on Wednesday (12.57am Thursday).
Today, a magnitude 2.6 quake struck 14km south-west of Santa Barbara at 9.17am UTC on Thursday. In total, since the magnitude 3.8 earthquake, five earthquakes have hit the Golden State, however, most of them have been small aftershocks.
Sporadic activity continues to be reported on along the Ring of Fire, which is a tectonic plate notorious for recording constant earthquakes.
