NAFDAC Uncovers Business Revalidating Expired Cosmetics In Lagos

The National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Tuesday, uncovered a business at River Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos state engaging in revalidating expired cosmetic products.

In a post on X, NAFDAC said the discovery follows an intelligence report carried out by the agency.

According to the post, the suspected business, Precious Jewel Int’l Nigeria Limited allegedly altered expiry dates on a lot of products among which are; White Xpress Cream, Silka B Cream, Bond’s Magic Powder, Bio-Skin Lightening Lotion, Classic Hair System Fair Spotless Cleanser, Oil-Free Acne Control Oil, and Vaseline Blue Seal.

The post also said packaging materials like sealing machines, and other tools used for this illegal activity were seized from the facility.

“NAFDAC uncovered a business at River Plaza, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos state engaging in revalidating expired cosmetic products.

“Precious Jewel Int’l Nigeria Limitedfound altering expiration dates on products such as White Xpress Cream, Silka B Cream, Bond’s Magic Powder, Bio-Skin Lightening Lotion, Classic Hair System Fair Spotless Cleanser, Oil-Free Acne Control Oil, and Vaseline Blue Seal.

It further stated that the owner of the business, Mr. Kingsley Awuh attempted to escape upon the arrival of NAFDAC officers but was tracked down and arrested.

The agency said the suspect will be prosecuted soon.
