Najeem Salaam, Others Take Oaths As Communication Minister Inaugurates NIGCOMSAT Board

The Hon. Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami has inaugurated the Governing Board, Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd.

While inaugurating the Board on Friday, January 24th, 2020, the Minister called on the Governing Board to make NIGCOMSAT competitive not only in Nigeria but Africa.

“I am strongly with you 100% and very accessible. You must turn things around in NIGCOMSAT as a revenue generating company, Pantami said.

 

He wished them the best and advised them to face the challenges before them as well as update themselves by learning everyday to the knowledge the have acquired already

In his opening remark, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Musa Istifanus, called on the board to carry out the vision of the Agency effectively as they have been appointed in an effort to strengthen and boost the vision of the company in line with the Digital Economy direction of the Hon. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Ali Pantami

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Rauf Olaniyan also called on the Board Chairman and members to join the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy to divert Nigeria’s economy from Oil to Digital.

The immediate past Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, Galaxy Backbone Arc Yusuf Kazaure, took oath of office as Board Chairman under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Legal, Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

He takes over from Chief George Moghalu who is now the Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Inland Water Ways, NIWA.

Three other Executive Directors also took oath of office. They are: Professor Ja’afaru Abdu Bambale from the University of Kano is now the Executive Director, Technical.

He is a Professor of Business and Entrepreneur at the Bayero University, Kano. Bambale holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Utara, Malaysia. He replaced Kolawole Raji Kazeem.

Dr. Najeem Folasayo Salaam is now the new Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development.

A consummate politician, Dr. Salaam was a two-time speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly. He replaced Barr. Samson Osagie.

Also appointed is Mr. Hadi Mohammed as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration. He holds a B.sc, Public Administration and M.sc, Business Administration. He replaced Mallam Mohammed Lema.
