NANS Calls for FUOYE Vice-Chancellor’s Suspension Over Alleged Sexual Harassment Scandal

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called for the immediate suspension of Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), following serious allegations of sexual harassment and extortion.
A leaked audio recording has surfaced, where Fasina is allegedly heard making improper advances towards Engineer Folasade Adebayo, a married deputy director at the university’s Directorate of Works and Services.
In a statement signed by Akinteye Afeez Babatunde, the President of the Senate at NANS Headquarters, the association condemned Fasina’s actions, stressing that they violated the ethical standards expected from someone in his position.

“We call on the Governing Council of FUOYE to act decisively and immediately suspend Professor Fasina to allow for a transparent, unbiased, and thorough investigation into the allegations.”
NANS also raised concerns over alleged extortion within the university’s part-time programme, accusing the institution of coercing qualified students into part-time studies for financial gain.
The association concluded by reiterating that Nigerian students will no longer tolerate such misconduct, demanding justice and accountability.
“FUOYE deserves better. Nigerian students deserve better,” NANS added, urging the council to restore confidence in academic leadership and uphold justice.
