NANS President Atiku Isah Moved To DSS HQ Amid Fears Of Blackmail

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has been transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) clinic to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja amid fears of blackmail and mounting pressure over bribery and assault allegations involving Seyi Tinubu.

A family member, who confirmed the development to SaharaReporters on Monday, said DSS operatives arrived unexpectedly, packed Isah’s belongings, and moved him from the clinic.

The relative, visibly worried, claimed the student leader had earlier called to inform them of the relocation and expressed concern for his safety.

The source alleged that Isah had been coerced into holding a gun while photos were taken—reportedly in the presence of DSS personnel.

“He said they gave him a gun and snapped him. Those thugs did that in front of DSS officers when he was attacked at The Wells Carlton Hotel,” the family member said.

Isah has been embroiled in a leadership crisis within NANS after accusing Seyi Tinubu’s faction, led by Ladoja Olusola, of sponsoring violence against him during his inauguration.

He also accused Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, of offering him a N100 million bribe to step down for a government-backed candidate.

Sources say the DSS is preparing to charge Isah with illegal possession of firearms—a setup, according to insiders, as the pistol used in the photographs was allegedly planted by his abductors.

“They want to silence him because he’s exposing corruption in student politics,” one source told SaharaReporters.

The NANS president, who has been in DSS custody since April 29, 2025, reportedly began a hunger protest, refusing food and medication as a form of resistance to his continued detention without formal charges.

“He said he won’t eat or take drugs anymore. All he wants is to go home,” a DSS insider revealed.

Isah had earlier claimed that after being assaulted during his inauguration, he was taken to the DSS hospital on Airport Road where he was pressured into retracting his allegations against Seyi Tinubu.

Sources added that even his wife, who visited recently, was not allowed to leave with him.
