Natasha Alerts INEC Of Fresh Fake Signatures To Prosecute Her Recall

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has raised the alarm over what she described as a renewed onslaught by her political adversaries to push through her recall by any means necessary, including the use of forged signatures.
Senator Natasha, who made this known via a post on her verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to beware of a fresh batch of allegedly doctored petitions set to be submitted in the coming days.
In her words, “Dear @inecnigeria, I’m aware these amongst other forged petitions in furtherance of ‘their’ recall will be submitted to your good office next week. Well, Nigerians will hold you to your constituted standards and authority.”
It would be recalled that on April 7, reports emerged indicating that a fresh plot to revive the failed recall attempt against the embattled lawmaker was gathering steam, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and some political figures from Kogi State said to be behind the move.
According to the report, the masterminds of the plot have allegedly flown in a group of ten professional signature forgers from a South-Western state and lodged them in a hotel in Garki, Abuja, to perfect the forged documents.
The plan, insiders say, is to gather over 100,000 signatures—far above the 29,146 shortfall that led to the collapse of the initial recall effort.
Sources within the National Assembly allege that the renewed move is being coordinated by powerful forces within the Senate and supported by a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who has remained a bitter political foe of Senator Natasha.
The report also indicated that pressure is currently being mounted on the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, by loyalists of the Senate President, with veiled threats of political consequences should the new attempt hit the rocks like the previous one.
“Don’t forget, these are political actors who don’t take prisoners. They see her continued presence in the Senate as an affront. The idea is to distract and politically cripple her before the next general election cycle,” said a security source.
