The state of Osun Commissioner for Empowerment and Youth Engagement, Mrs Mofolake Adegboyega has said all, including the government, parents, systems, organization and the youth must contribute meaningfully to build the nation.
She added that though, nation building is an ongoing project which never ends, the buck of the works rest on the shoulders of the youth whose energy and brightness of the mind made them the torch bearer for national development.
The commissioner spoke at the Osun Youth Engagement Summit, a youth sensitisation engagement and development program held at the WOCDIF Center.
She bemoaned how youths bitterly lamented the present situation of the country, advising a value reorientation and cultural adjustment programme if the youths are to forge a new path.
She urged the youths to harness their strength for constructive use, avoid habits inimical to their potentials as well as discouraging impunity.
The convener of the summits Destiny Development Initiative, Segun Oduyebo urged Youths in the state to harmonise efforts in order to develop the state .
He noted that the development of the state should not be left in the hands of government, citing the Mark Zuckerberg visit to Nigeria as what could be possible when youths in the state could achieve by coming together to multiply their talents to make the state an enviable one,
According to him Zuckerberg visits was facilitated by activities of a group of youths who were doing well in the area of ICT, adding that the aim of the event was to spark youths in the state to use their innate talents to engender development in the state as this would complement the efforts of the government.
An International social entrepreneur, and gubernatorial candidate for Osun State, in 2015, Babatunde Oralusi, said instead of youths dissipating their strengths on things that threatened the peace of the country, they should channel it into activities capable of growing the country’s economy to the extent they could become powerful to threaten the nation economically just as Zuckerberg.
