Nationwide Protest: UNIOSUN Suspends Exams Indefinitely
The management of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has suspended examinations scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 2024, until further notice.
Osun Defender reports that the university management suspended the examinations due to the upcoming nationwide protests scheduled to be held on August 1.
This was contained in a statement on Monday by the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Oguntunde Atinuke.
According to the statement, “The National Universities Commission, via a letter referenced NUC/ES/138/Vol. 65, dated July 28, 2024, mandated all Vice Chancellors of all Nigerian Universities to take proactive steps to ensure the security and safety of staff and students given the planned national protest.
“Consequently, the University Management met today, Monday, July 29, 2024, to consider the letter. After exhaustive deliberation, Management took the following directive:

“All examinations scheduled from Thursday, August 1, 2024, remain suspended until further directive;
“Management believes that the safety of our students is the top priority of our university agenda and will never be compromised. Students are, therefore, advised to restrict their movements during this unpredictable period.
“The university will announce the continuity of academic activities when stable.
“Please pay attention to all the above to avoid exposure to any potential danger during the planned protests. Thank you.”
