NCAA Summons Air Peace Over Persistent Flight Delays, Cancellations
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned Air Peace Limited over frequent flight delays and cancellations that have continued to inconvenience passengers across the country.
In a statement released on Friday, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, said the agency is seriously concerned about the airline’s operations and stressed the urgent need for corrective action to rebuild customer confidence.
The development followed a high-level meeting at NCAA headquarters in Abuja, where the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, engaged with the airline’s top management.
Captain Najomo advised Air Peace to scale down its operations to align with the available fleet capacity in order to minimise disruptions and improve schedule reliability.
“The NCAA has received numerous complaints about chronic flight cancellations and delays by Air Peace. This trend must be urgently reversed,” he stated.
He added that while the NCAA supports domestic airlines, compliance with aviation regulations and global standards remains non-negotiable.
To enforce this, the NCAA will intensify regulatory surveillance on all Nigerian airlines to ensure adherence to flight schedules and raise operational standards.
In response, Air Peace acknowledged the current challenges, describing them as common in the aviation sector, and assured both regulators and passengers that efforts are ongoing to resolve the issues and improve services.
Captain Najomo reiterated NCAA’s zero-tolerance stance on poor performance, warning that any airline failing to meet expectations will face sanctions where necessary.
