In recognition of his immense contributions, development promotion and sterling leadership qualities, the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, NCRIB, has conferred a meritorious award of Fellowship on the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola.
The investiture marking the NCRIB Fellowship award was held Tuesday at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Osogbo.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman, Board of Fellows of the NCRIB, Barrister Olaide Osijo said the Fellowship award was the highest professional cadre that any member of the council could aspire to.
“It is heartwarming that the council is inducting His Excellency, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola”, she said.
Barrister Olaide stated further that having satisfied the provisions for admission into the membership category as enshrined in the FCRIB Act No. 21 of 2003, the leadership of the Council decided to confer the prestigious award on the Governor.
“This is done in consonance with what obtains in other professional bodies all over the world, she said.
She however noted that the prestigious award was highly challenging, adding that the Council expected the new inductee (Mr. Oyetola) to deploy his eminent position as one of the ambassadors to support the council in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
In his earlier address, the President and Chairman, Governing Board of the NCRIB, Mr. Shola Tinubu lamented societal ignorance of the functions of an insurance broker, who according to him, “is a professional link in the insurance value chain”.
He however said: “It is our belief that with our ambassador now on the helms of affair in Osun State, the narrative would change starting from here today”.
Giving his acceptance speech, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, whose excitement was obvious, expressed his gratitude to the leadership of NCRIB for the Fellowship award.
“It is with high sense of humility and appreciation that I welcome the distinguished fellow members of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers to Osun for the conferment of the Council’s Fellowship on me”, the Governor said.
The Governor said he was highly honoured to have been considered for the exhausted and prestigious Fellowship award of the NCRIB.
“Today’s award is one I cherish dearly, as it’s an honour coming from home in recognition of our modest contributions by the distinguished members of my constituency”, the new inductee, Governor Oyetola said.
The investiture was graced by many eminent invitees from government and larger society, including four prominent monarchs in the state; the Oluwo of Iwo, Akinrun of Ikirun, Aragbiji of Iragbiji and Elende of Eko-Ende, among others.
