New Year’s Day Inferno Razes Containers, Shops At Osogbo Market
A new year’s day inferno at the New Orisumbare Shopping Complex, around MDS area, Osogbo, which affected 4 privately-owned containers.
Findings by OSUN DEFENDER indicated that the fire was not caused by any electrical issue, because none of the containers had electricity fittings.
The razed shops included a furniture office, a medium-sized trading store, a beauty accessories store, and a shoemaker’s manufacturing business.
It was gathered that the fire incident occurred between 2 and 3pm on Sunday.
OSUN DEFENDER learnt that firefighters of the State of Osun and their federal counterpart were mobilised to the scene of the inferno, and were able to put it out after properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye visited the scene and assured the affected persons that the state government will look into the matter.
As of Monday morning, owners of the affected shops were seen clearing debris from the scene.
