Niger: Four killed As Nupe, Fulani Clash Turns Deadly
A violent clash between Nupe and Fulani residents in Ezhigi village, Edati Local Government Area of Niger State has left at least four people dead and several others displaced.
According to counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the conflict reportedly began on October 21, 2025, after an argument broke out between a Nupe man from Ezhigi and a Fulani herder, identified as Jibril Adamu, over yet-to-be-determined reasons.
During the altercation, Jibril allegedly attacked the Nupe man with a machete, leaving him with deep wounds. The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Kutigi but later died from his injuries on October 22.
News of his death sparked a violent reprisal by angry Nupe youths, who invaded the Fulani camp in the village, killing four people and setting their homes on fire.

Police officers from the Enagi Division were quickly deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect, Jibril Adamu, has been arrested while an investigation is underway to apprehend others involved and forestall additional clashes.
