Nigeria Customs Mourns Deputy Superintendent Killed by Terrorists in Kebbi

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has mourned the death of its Deputy Superintendent, Sadiq Tahir Muhammad, who was killed by suspected Lakurawa terrorists, on Saturday, along the Maje axis in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

In a statement on Sunday, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, described Muhammad’s death as a painful loss to both the Service and the nation.

He extended condolences to the officer’s family, colleagues, and friends, describing the deceased as a dedicated and gallant personnel who embodied the finest values of the NCS.

“The Service deeply mourns this painful loss and extends heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the late Officer. DSC Sadiq Tahir Muhammad was a dedicated and gallant personnel whose commitment to duty reflected the finest values of the Nigeria Customs Service. His passing is a great loss to the Service and the nation at large,” the statement read.

“In accordance with Islamic rites, the late Officer has been laid to rest at the Makeran Gwandu Cemetery, following funeral prayers held at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace, attended by the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, members of the Emirate Council, retired and serving senior Customs officers, and other dignitaries.

“The Comptroller-General has ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Service is working closely with other security agencies to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and brought to justice.

“While the Service mourns the loss of this brave Officer, it remains steadfast and unwavering in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities. The Nigeria Customs Service assures the public that it will not relent in its efforts to secure the nation’s borders and protect the lives of its personnel. The Comptroller-General once again commiserates with the bereaved family and prays for the Almighty to grant the soul of the departed Officer eternal,” the statement concluded.
