Nigeria Has Become A Foolish Theatre Under Tinubu’s Watch – Sowore
Detained human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has described Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu as a “foolish theatre”, accusing the Nigeria Police Force of brutality and denying him medical attention.
Sowore made the statement on Friday from his detention cell at the Force Headquarters in Abuja during a visit by journalists.
He was arrested on Wednesday after honouring a police invitation and was reportedly assaulted by officers at about 6 am on Thursday.
His right hand was said to have been broken during the encounter.
“Since I came here yesterday, they broke my hand and they have not been able to bring a doctor,” Sowore said.
“They brought a nurse who bandaged my hand, and now they brought the media. Nobody requested for media. They are the ones who brought you people. The Nigeria Police has no integrity.
“I’m ashamed of the president of Nigeria, that under his watch, Nigeria has become this kind of foolish theatre,” he added.
His continued detention sparked protests at the Force Headquarters on Friday, with demonstrators calling for his unconditional release and describing his arrest as unlawful.
