Nigeria, Tinubu Have No Hand In Sunday Igboho’s Freedom Prof. Akintoye

The leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye has denied the involvement of Nigerian government not President Bola Tinubu in the total freedom of the Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, from the custody in the Republic of Benin.

Igboho, who was released by the Beninese government led by President Patrice Talon, last week Sunday, expressed gratitude for the support and solidarity of Yoruba leaders during his two-year ordeal in Cotonou.

However, Akintoye clarified that President Tinubu played no role in this release.

Akintoye in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Gani Alagbala, he emphasized the need to correct any misconceptions about President Tinubu’s involvement.

According to the statement, ”the Nigerian authorities and administration under the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu have no hands in the release and total freedom of our frontliner, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Igboho.”

Akintoye credited Sunday Igboho’s release to divine intervention and the collective efforts of Yoruba leadership in the struggle for self-determination, with support from well-meaning individuals and organizations both locally and internationally.

He also expressed appreciation to the Republic of Benin government for delivering justice despite political pressures.

Furthermore, Akintoye extended his best wishes to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently in detention in Nigeria.

While acknowledging the efforts of Igbo brothers in seeking Kanu’s freedom, he stressed that the process leading to Sunday Igboho’s release was devoid of any involvement from Nigerian politicians or government officials.
