Nigeria Will Defeat Terrorism – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has pledged to defeat terrorism and deepen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with world leaders.
Speaking before the Federal Executive Council went into a closed-door session on Thursday, Tinubu said his administration remains determined to move the country forward under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
The meeting, held at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, was the first FEC gathering since July.
Tinubu’s remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern,’ a label the Federal Government has dismissed as a distortion of the nation’s security realities.
Responding to the development, Tinubu said his administration is working closely with international partners to ensure lasting peace, stability, and economic progress.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.
The President commended his cabinet members for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda and urged them to remain focused on implementing the administration’s reforms to achieve national prosperity.
