Nigerian Club Involved In Fatal Accident

 

Heartland FC of Owerri players and staff were on Friday involved in a fatal accident.

The team was on their way to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-Season Tournament, according to BSNSports.

The report added that the Head Coach of the team, Christian Obi, reportedly died in the accident.

According to a statement by the club, “the accident happened at Umunna close to Okigwe still within Imo State.

“The vehicle, in its attempt to dodge an oncoming vehicle, collided with another carelessly parked vehicle from another accident.

“Though no death was recorded some players and officials sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital.”
