Nigerian Emerges President Of Canadian Medical Association
Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi, a distinguished Nigerian dermatologist, has been elected as the new President-Elect of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), marking a historic achievement for both the medical community and Nigeria.
Dr. Ogunyemi, a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, has been a key figure in Canadian healthcare, serving as a specialist in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Labrador City since 2018.
In a statement, President Bola Tinubu congratulated Dr. Ogunyemi, recognising his leadership, excellence, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of others.
Tinubu highlighted Dr. Ogunyemi’s 15 years of experience in medical leadership, expressing confidence that he is well-equipped to steer the CMA to new heights.

The president emphasized that Dr. Ogunyemi’s election is not just a personal achievement but a proud moment for the entire nation, showcasing the global impact of Nigerian professionals.

President Tinubu further encouraged Dr. Ogunyemi to foster inclusivity and cooperation within the CMA, ensuring that all members, including those who vied for the position, are embraced as partners in progress.
