Nigerian Goalkeeper Completes Move To Orlando Pirates

Nigeria goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, who was Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper at the 2016 Rio Olympics where the ‘Dream Team’ picked up a bronze medal, has been training with the Buccaneers for about three months.

Daniel has completed a  move to South African giants, Orlando Pirates and has received his work permit.

Sources in South Africa have revealed that he has been registered with the Premier Soccer League and received his work permit, which means he can play this season instead of next season as earlier anticipated.

Ghana midfielder Edwin Gyimah’s departure to Sweden means one foreigner slot became vacant and Daniel is expected to fill that slot and is available for selection by coach Kjell Jonevret.

Orlando Pirates have had a Nigerian goalkeeper before in their ranks. William Okpara, who is now part of the Pirates technical team, played for the club in the 1990s.

Daniel last played for Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers, before his free transfer to Pirates.
