Nigerians Blast Tinubu Over Lopsided Appointment Of Security Heads
The regional distribution of Nigeria’s security agency heads under President Bola Tinubu’s administration has sparked widespread condemnation, particularly with the limited appointments allocated to the South-East and South-South regions.
The full list of 22 appointments was shared by the presidency through Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications and Orientation, on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday.
The list reveals a significant regional imbalance, with the North-West leading with eight appointments, followed by the South-West with five. The North-Central and North-East regions each have four and three positions, respectively, while the South-East and South-South were each allocated just one role.
This has sparked intense reactions from Nigerians across social media, with many questioning the fairness and inclusivity of the appointments.
Scores of Nigerians took to X to voice their frustrations, accusing the government of neglecting the South-East and South-South regions.

Here are some notable reactions:
@iamProjectP: Out of 22 appointments, SS and SE got one each, and you have the guts to defend it. You are truly shameless
@Nimsy01: Are you honestly proud of this distribution? The South East & South South got only 1 each out of 22 appointments! Was this about competence alone, or did PBAT even consider regional balance?
@OfficialEdoOsasB: South South that feeds the Nation one appointment.
@Karavoni: Own goal. Just look at SS and SE.
Can you also show the outlook of all the appointments he’s made.
@OfficialAdeloye: Does this list make sense to u??
@WynWonder: The sort of persons we have in leadership positions in this country SMH. How’s it possible for a human being to put this up as evidence of equity? HOW?
@DwizardKing: So in your own reasoning this is right abi. South East and south South with only 1 rep? Tinubu has succeeded in balkanizing Nigeria. We are just a country by name but in our actions everyone inclines towards their tribe
