A Nigerian Business Mogul and lawyer, Wale Babalakin, has charged Nigerians to always redeem their pledges towards the work of God, as he urged Nigerians to have the fear of God in their hearts.
Babalakin gave this charge at the weekend during the launching of N650 million, appeal fund for the Osun State University UNIOSUN Mosque held at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, Uniosun Main campus, Osogbo.
He said there is need for Muslim faithful to always work towards the growth of Islam by contributing their own quota out of their God-given resources.
The Osun State Muslim Community during the Public Presentation of Mosque Project and 650 Million Appeal Fund solicited financial support from all Muslim Umah in order to be able to complete the project at no distant time.
Speaking, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Labo Popoola, said freedom of religion must be observed and respected in higher institutions of learning but it must neither be misused nor be allowed to breed extremism.
He noted that a befitting mosque will afford the Muslim community a conducive environment to breed sound spirituality and virtues in students.
Prof Popoola therefore urged religious leaders across the country to prioritize virtues and righteousness as against crass materialism that is encouraging sinful acts in the land.
Speaking on the significance of project, the guest-speaker, an Associate Professor of English, Dr Mahfouz Adedimeji remarked that Mosque, from the history of Prophet Muhammad, was the the center of all activities – academic, spiritual, commerce, governance, administrative and policy making.
He said this was the reason mosque was the first house to be built by the Prophet in the city of Medina, and the same reason he declared that praying in the mosque is 27 times better than praying at home.
“Allah doesn’t leave anyone out, rich or poor, from contributing to a good cause. Everybody must do so according to his capacity because it remains a flowing charity after we are long gone.
“Our Prophet said a man whose heart is always attached to the mosque and he who spends on the cause of Allah discreetly will be among the seven categories of people that will be housed under Allah”s shade on the last day when no other shade will be available
The Pro-Chancellor of the university, Mallam Yusuf Ali (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria) and Asiwaju Adinni of Yorubaland, Asiwaju Tunde Badmus advised Nigerians to imbibe the teachings of the scriptures.
