Nigerians Must Learn to Live with Fulani Herdsmen — Shiekh Gumi
Controversial Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on Nigerians to learn to live with Fulani herdsmen, describing them as an inseparable part of the country.
In a video shared on X, Gumi stated that the herdsmen cannot be driven away, just as they would never drive anyone out.
He emphasised that they are neighbours, not enemies, and warned that treating them as foes could have dire consequences for Nigeria.
The retired army officer explained that the real enemy could exploit hostility towards the herdsmen, as they are familiar with the country’s secrets.
“They are going nowhere. They are part of us, and we are part of them. We must learn to live together and should never become enemies with them.
“Your real enemy will use your neighbour against you, and nobody knows your secret more than your neighbour. He knows when you come back and when you go out. So we should never allow herdsmen to be our enemies,” Gumi said.
