Greetings to Nigerians who have found much interest in a trending slang that had come to litter the four corners of the country tagged : “Jappa”. Despite the higher level of prominence that was being given to this slang by Nigerians, I’m still confused about the relationship between our youths and Jappa slang.
Anytime there is a slang outbreak in Nigeria, Nigerians always connect with its immorality and depravity and thereby start flaunting and celebrating a misplaced priority. I cannot but wonder that most of these slangs/jargons sound more or less like Insults to our personality(ies) but our reasoning faculty would never take note of its abusive side and derogation.
Cunningly, one of the lyrics of the disco dance had once asked a question that: ” Awon Omo Shaku Shaku da” meaning where are the ” Shaku Shaku babes? It’s funny and at the same time appalling that anywhere and anytime this particular lyrics is being played on air, our big girls and slay queens would be screaming happily that: ” awa Re… Awa awa Re…” meaning that: ” we are here” as pronounced by the artist.
Also in another lyric, similar question barged-in asking whereabouts of ” Awon Omo wobeys” meaning wobey girls “Awon Omo sepeteri” meaning sepeteri girls and till this moment, I’m still wondering if at all our self acclaimed big girls know what: ” idi alapa” ” cracked booty” means. All these are insults as the fact still remains that none of these adjectives could be used to qualify a reasonable and modest girl. None of these jargons could be used to please a promising girl who values her world beyond. None of these terms could be used to identify an house wife material. As derogatory as these slangs, it soothes the nerves of our shaku shaku slay queens. What a misplaced priority.
As a matter of fact, those terminologies does not deluge my pensive mood like the recent trending slang that is being celebrated by our shaku shaku slay queens in Nigeria on all social media tagged ” Jappa”. Although, the best meaning of Jappa is known to the inventor on a good note but it has taken another dimension on WhatsApp and Facebook status. What pleasure do our girls derive from this slang than courtship and matrimonial depravity
Recently, I watched a video of teenage girls that acted exactly the way their role model sisters instructed them to act. What baffles me in the video wasn’t about the slang but the effrontery these small girls had by displaying their waspish immoralities.
What was derived from the contents was basically on telling guys who couldn’t afford to buy them ” i-phone to Jappa” guys who couldn’t pay for their hair to Jappa and guys who couldn’t afford to stride to an expensive eatery should Jappa” now the point here is that our slay queens of nowadays are not after being part of any guy’s future if such a guy is not ready to turn himself to an ATM machine. Meaning that if you are not ready to spend like Yahoo guy, Jappa… This among other reasons has contributed to the hiker level of social vices and many of the so called ladies turning to an object of rituals.
Guys want to Jappa to rob ladies of their belongings and dump them. Ladies want to Jappa to chop guys and go. Endurance and trust in a relationship has been dancing shaku shaku and shoki style. No more serious relationship. After series of banging and marathon sex, we will decide to Jappa to somewhere else while the future is getting to be diluted with regrets because no one can hold the fast moving legs of time.
Why not let us Jappa to build a happy home, a long lasting and serious relationship, let’s Jappa to be a promising house wives and responsible husbands rather than being an unserious element under the slangs of our entertainers. Let’s Jappa…
