Favour Agboro missed out on Nigeria’s first medal at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in the men’s weightlifting event on Thursday.
In the 62kg final standings, Agboro came fifth in a field of 14 contestants after a total lift of 268kg.
The Malaysian Muhammad Aznil Bidin who lifted 288kg won the gold medal
Morea Baru of Papua New Guinea claimed silver with a lift of 286kg while the bronze medal was won by Talha Talib of Pakistan who did 283kg.
Earlier on Thursday, Monica Uweh of Nigeria finished in fifth position in the women’s 48kg category of the weightlifting event.
Chanu Saikhom Mirabai of India won the gold medal, Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa of Mauritius got the silver and Dinusha Gomes of Sri Lanka claimed the bronze.
