A memorial service and novelty march are being planned by the Delta State chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to honour Jnr Pope and four others who died in the Anam River boat mishap on April 10, 2024.

A source confirmed yesterday to Saturday Vanguard that a planning committee has been set up for the event, which will mark the first anniversary of the tragedy.

The memorial service is scheduled to take place at a Catholic Church in Asaba, Delta State.

Meanwhile, the father of the late sound engineer, Olanti, who was among the victims, has accused the film’s producer, Adanma Luke, of abandonment.

Pastor Joseph Lazarus, who identified his late son as the family’s breadwinner, lamented that life has been difficult since his passing.

According to Pastor Lazarus, Adanma Luke transferred only N300,000 into his bank account after his son’s death and has since neither visited nor sent a message of condolence.

“She never bothered to check on my family,” he said.

The senior pastor of God’s Salvation Miracle Centre, Asaba, is now seeking financial assistance, saying he has been struggling to pay his rent since his son’s demise.

Jnr Pope and four others lost their lives when their boat capsized while heading to a movie location on April 10, 2024.

The incident sparked an investigation, with Adanma Luke facing criticism over her handling of the tragedy.
