A notorious armed robber, Mahmud Ibrahim, has been arrested by men of the Kano state police command.
The 26-year-old armed robber had been terrorizing dwellers of the state and its environs.
In a statement signed by DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, and made available to newsmen, the suspect was arrested at Kurna Babban Layi Quarters, Dala Local Government Area of the state.
According to Kiyawa, the police received a distress call that an armed robber with a gun attacked a house located at Kuyan Ta’inna Town, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State
He explained further that that police on Monday succeeded in arresting the suspect after they have received it.
According to him, the team immediately swung into action and with the help of members of the community, arrested the suspect in possession of a pump-action rifle.
He further said the suspect sustained injuries while attempting to escape and was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where he was treated and released to the police for investigation.
The police spokesman said the suspect confessed to have committed series of armed robberies alone for over two years in Kano and Niger States.
“The case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for investigation. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the statement said.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, thanked the good people of Kano State for their continuous support and cooperation.
He urged residents to continue to pray and report incidences to the nearest Police Station and not to take laws into their hands.
