Notorious Terrorist, Bello Turji Has Not Surrendered – Defence Headquarters
The Defence Headquarters refuted reports that notorious bandit kingpin Bello Turji has surrendered to the military.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, on Thursday, denied the reports while briefing journalists on the activities of the Armed Forces in Abuja.
“Simple answer to the question about terrorist leader, Bello Turji; Turji has not surrendered, we are still on the lookout for him,” Kangye said.
The terrorist who has been declared wanted has masterminded several attacks on communities in the North-West.
Turji operates mainly in Zamfara and Sokoto states.
Recently, there were reports that the bandit kingpin had surrendered his arms and released 32 kidnap victims.
The report came after a purported peace initiative brokered by Islamic clerics in Zamfara State.
