Nottingham Forest Sack Ange Postecoglou After Eight-Game Winless Run
Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Ange Postecoglou following a disappointing spell that saw the club go eight matches without a win across all competitions.
The decision came shortly after Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, a result that proved to be the final straw for the club’s hierarchy.
Postecoglou, who was appointed earlier this season amid high expectations, struggled to find form with his side, collecting just two points from eight games.
His tenure was marked by six losses, including a Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Swansea City, where Forest crashed out 3-2 despite leading 2-1 deep into stoppage time.
Forest’s only points came from hard-fought draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League, but those brief moments of resilience were not enough to lift pressure off the Greek coach.
Sources within the club revealed that the board had grown increasingly concerned over the team’s performances and lack of attacking spark. Saturday’s loss to Chelsea, in front of home fans at the City Ground, was reportedly the tipping point.
A statement from the club confirmed Postecoglou’s departure, thanking him for his commitment and professionalism during his brief spell in charge.
“The club wishes Ange all the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Assistant coach Chris Cohen is expected to take charge of the team on an interim basis while the club begins the search for a permanent successor. Several names, including former Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers and ex-Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, have already been linked to the role.
