NSCDC Arrests Man For Spreading HIV In Gombe
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command said it has secured the arrest of an 85-year-old man, who specialised in luring young girls into intimacy despite his status as a carrier of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mohammed Bello Mu’azu stated this while briefing journalists on the Command’s activities for 2023.
Mu’azu said said the man (name withheld), before his arrest has had sex with uncountable number of young girls and after medical examination, he and his four wives were confirmed to be HIV positive.
The Commandant said HIV is like a time bomb in Gombe State because the prevalence rate was alarmingly high, noting that many unsuspecting carriers are in their window period.
He therefore, warned members of the public against illicit sexual relationships or ensuring they confirm the status of their sex mates before engaging in any sexual relationship.
