Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun Command has unveiled a new Squads and equipped them with the relevant gadgets to curtail the trend of internet fraud in the state.
This was revealed by the State Commandant, Emmanuel Ocheja who said the newly equipped unit would commence full operations in 2022 and will be in a better position to track various devices used in defrauding innocent Nigerians.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Adigun Daniel on Wednesday said the unit was prompted due to alarming dubious transactions through the Internet.
Nigeria, according to Ocheja, has been plagued with lots of dubious transactions through the Internet adding that so many innocent individuals have been swindled of their hard-earned money thereby falling victims to fraudsters.
“Having observed this ugly trend, we decided to train personnel in this line to strengthen, improve and update their knowledge so as to apprehend and curtail the activities of Internet fraudsters popularly known as cybercrime.
“To this end personnel have gone through a series of training not excluding phone tracking to curtail the impact of Internet crime especially amongst the youth in the society.
“The Corps will be in a better position to track various devices used in defrauding innocent Nigerians”, he said.
