NSCDC Nabs 51-Year-Old For Allegedly Raping In-Law
A 51-year-old man, Idowu Mahmud, has been arrested for allegedly raping his wife’s
14-year-old cousin.
Mahmud was arrested by men of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The incident happened at Gbaagba area along Airport Road in Ilorin West LGA.
According to the State NSCDC spokesperson Ayoola Michael, the complainant (name withheld) reported that the suspect started sexually assaulting her in November 2023.
He further said, “The victim, who is a cousin to the suspect’s wife, has been residing with the couple since the age of 11. She said the assault particularly took place on Sundays when there were no other occupants at home.
“She said the suspect threatened to harm her if she ever disclosed the illicit relationship to anyone,” and that upon interrogation the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court.”
