NSCDC Officers Missing After Terrorist Attack Outpost in Niger
An unspecified number of officers are still unaccounted for following a terrorist attack on a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost in Ibrahim Leteh village, along the Wawa–Lumma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The outpost was reportedly attacked around 4 am on Tuesday by terrorists who stormed the area in large numbers and opened fire on the personnel on duty.
The attack forced some of the NSCDC officers to flee for safety.
Sources said some rifles belonging to the civil defence officers were carted away by the attackers.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the NSCDC in Niger State, Abubakar Rabiu, said the command had received a similar report but could not immediately ascertain the full extent of the incident.
According to him, investigations are ongoing and the state commandant will brief the public after a clearer picture of what happened has been established.
